Chhandika’s 2012 Annual Student Show, “Kathaka: An Inside Story” was a great success, with over 75 students performing at all levels, eager to demonstrate bols, footwork, storytelling, spins, and taranas. And here is a mesmerizing clip of Shefali Jain and Sareena Avadhany performing a piece in “kathak yoga” style, i.e. singing lahera, playing harmonium and dancing complex rhythms with lightning fast footwork… all at once. Put aside a few minutes: you’ll want to watch this a few times.
